I hope you're enjoying the Basic Rules (if not you can download it on our Website or on DTRPG), If you have feedback feel free to join the Discord, we have a feedback channel to talk about the rules or answer any questions you may have.
So before we got started working on the playtest, we knew we really had to nail the art style, which actually led to quite the artist hunt. We needed an artist to not only recreate the HLD style, but was able to mimic it in from various perspectives. Fortunately from a recommendation, we found games artist Eka Pramudita Muharra (out of date deviantart), who has been the sole illustrator for everything we've shown so far.
Hyper Light Drifter was made in a 480x270pixel format, which is then scaled up to your native screen resolution. For our we do a similar process, illustrating at 455x297 pixels, then scaling up to resolution and DPI so that when we print we don't get weird interpolation or compression.
We concepted out two regions, the Flooded Valley and the "North," and we were fortunate enough to get Eka to animate them as well!
During the cataclysm a great dam broke, flooding the facilities that were built into the canyon before it. Now, lies a patchwork of air pockets and flooded facilities, though a danger lurks in the depths.
In the north, numerous facilities float effortlessly in the skies, interconnected via towering bridges and cables. During the cataclysm, some have fallen, returning to the land, though others seem untouched, a potential paradise in a torn land.
Thank you soo much everyone and we'll see you on the next update!
PS We're currently chatting with Disasterpiece about new tracks or unused ones from HLD, nothing concrete, but we're excited to see where things go.

HLD Stream Tomorrow
Tomorrow (Sunday) Andreas, the lead designer, is going to play Hyper Light Drifter and talk about the game as well as answer any questions you may have about Drifter the Tabletop RPG or the Kickstarter. It'll be on our Metal Weave Games Twitch channel, and we'd be happy to chat and hangout with you all.
We're planning on starting the Stream will start around 2pm Pacific and going till 6pm-ish.
We've got a discord with over a 100 members! If you want to come on in and chat about the upcoming rules and share with the community, we're here!
Live Play Podcast
We also wanted to share an actual play podcast of Sky Hammer Kittens, who got to play with an early iteration of Drifter and they had a great time with it! They did mess-up a few details, which will make more sense as you get into the game.
Dashes do not cost energy to activate
Moving tiles costs 2 energy (but this cost is also reduced by your ability score)
For playtest adventures we gave everyone light armor (armor of 1, reducing damage taken by 1), in the current version, armor is far less common and more difficult to obtain
The narrator implemented an energy cost for getting up from a knockdown (which also couldn't be mitigated by ability scores).
These all resulted in energy being quite brutal for the party, but they made it through the adventure, at least by the skin of their teeth.
Thanks for being awesome everyone and we look forward to a good day tomorrow!
Video & Rules Intro

This morning I updated our video to this wonderful piece. I don't do videos very often and I'm really happy with how this came out.
We've now reached 37%, which is a solid start towards hitting our goal. I know it's not gaining the massive traction that a lot of people were hoping for. Part of it is that I'm waiting to do the big marketing push the full-playtest rules/pdf drop, I'm aiming to have them done by this Friday or Saturady, as then people can read it on the weekend.
That said, if you're interested in getting a quick snapshot of the rules we've written, we're currently populating our wiki with the playtest rules we're currently running with. The best place to start is the Rules Introduction. Right now, there's no pretty pictures or anything, but I'm currently going through the doc line by line and populating it out (once we get art for the book, we'll start making the entry pages prettier).
And finally, we've got an amazing discord channel with 92 amazing community members, please come on in and join the conversation, discussion and I am happy to take any feedback that you may have! Join the Discord Channel.
Thanks for your support and stay awesome everyone,
